Research interests
I’ve worked in research and management studying the impacts of oil development on grassland birds, monitoring Piping Plovers, understanding prescribed burning efficacy, sampling for Chronic Wasting Disease, reconstructing fire regimes in remnant red pine, and participating in a long-term elk monitoring project near Banff National Park. These experiences have made me approach ecology thinking like a scientist and a manager. My research focus is to understand historic fire regimes and their role in the conservation of peatlands in the upper Great Lakes Region.
Personal interests
I enjoy hiking, birding, fishing, and spending time with those closest to me listening to live music, drinking barley pop, and munching on squeaky cheese curds.
